The Tkon were a humanoid species, a Human-looking civilization that controlled the Tkon Empire circa 600,000 years before the 24th century. (TNG episode: "The Last Outpost")
History[]
The Tkon controlled several star systems in the galaxy's Alpha and Beta Quadrants. The Tkon Empire fell when the Tkon's native sun went supernova.
Tkon portals were people assigned as guardians to specific planets. Portal 63 (Six-Three) served as the portal of Delphi Ardu IV. He was in suspended animation for millennia until a joint Federation-Ferengi away team woke him up. (TNG episode: "The Last Outpost")
Tkon technology was considered to be the most powerful, most advanced of it's time - superior to that of the Federation many millennia later. The technology itself was based on programmable matter formed by quantized spin crystallization of hydrogen, carbon, and lithium that emitted tetrametric radiation pulses at an interval of 3.8422 seconds. It could be controlled telepathically and only responded to those with Tkon biology or those that were bioformed. The capabilities of such technology, such as the energy drain weapon deployed in the Delphi Ardu system, the warp disruption weapon in the Hotari system and the ability to create and harness the incredible power of ion storms were considered impossible by many Starfleet experts. Tkonian space weapons fired crystals that were able to largely bypass starship shields, while Tkonian personnel weapons crystallized organic matter from the inside out, resulting in massive internal organ damage. Tkonians were able to download and store consciousness for long periods of time. One faction of Tkonians, the Scions of the Flame, anticipated the end of the Tkon Empire and planned to use this bioforming technology to download their consciousness and memory into unwilling hosts on a galactic scale to bring about the return of the empire. Tkon artifacts were considered of high scientific value. In 2409, Starfleet recovered Tkon artifacts in the Tephrei star system and alerted the Federation Science Council about the discovery. (STO - Romulan Mystery mission: "Tephrei System Patrol")
