Tokugawa Ieyasu (31 January 1543-1 June 1616) was a human who lived in Japan in the 16th and 17th centuries. Tokugawa was a powerful military leader who ultimately became the first shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate.

In 1600, Tokugawa visited Fushimi Castle, the home of his retainer Torii Mototada. He asked Mototada to hold the castle as long as possible against the army of his foe Ishida Mitsunari. Mototada agreed, resulting in the deaths of every man in Fushimi Castle during the siege but enabling Tokugawa to defeat Ishida and establish the Tokugawa shogunate. (TOS novel: Home Is the Hunter)
