In 2004 TOKYOPOP acquired the rights to produce Star Trek manga in an anthology format.
They originally planed there first book to be collection of tales in the TNG era but at the bequest of Paramount they chose to develope a TOS book instead, to be released for Star Trek: The Original Series' 40th Anniversary.
The stories in the TOS book titled simply Star Trek: The Manga are:

- A "Q story where he’s split into three personalities" by Chris Dows
- Skin Deep - a "Klingon battle story" by Jim Alexander
- A Mirror Universe tale by Mark Paniccia
