The Toltan colony was a habitable planet seeded long ago by Toltans in a star system located in an uncharted sector of the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants.
History and specifics[]
The world appeared beige from space and appeared to orbit a single yellow star. Its sole moon was actually an automated observation post. According to the generally accepted mythology of the colonists, their moon was a type of ship under the control of the gods.
By the 14th century, the colony had divided into two factions, each of which had nuclear weapons. Two astronauts piloted a Toltan spacecraft to their moon in hopes of utilizing it as an orbital weapon platform to enforce peace. The two Toltans were captured by a robot crawler and placed in stasis, unable to witness the colony's self-destruction shortly thereafter by global nuclear war.
In the year 2273, the Federation starship USS Enterprise entered a parking orbit around the planet after detecting a Toltan language transmission. At this time, the world was intensely irradiated and would be unable to support life for several thousand years.
Tracing the transmission source to its moon, the Enterprise crew discovered the true nature and purpose of the Toltan Moon. That vessel soon broke orbit and left the system to bring the two surviving colonists back to its programmed origin point. (TOS comic: "Called Home")
