The Tombstone Epitaph (May 1880- ) was a newspaper publication released in Tombstone, Arizona during the late 1800s. It is still being published as of 2020.

History and specifics[]

The office building which housed the Epitaph was recreated by the Melkots in 2268, along with the front page of the latest edition.

When Melkotians brought James T. Kirk, Spock, Montgomery Scott, Leonard McCoy and Pavel Chekov into an Old West simulation, McCoy spotted the building. A bulletin board displayed the latest edition of the newspaper, which was dated 26 October 1881. Kirk thought the date was familiar, but it wasn't until Sheriff Johnny Behan spotted them — calling them Ike Clanton, Frank McLaury, Tom McLaury, Billy Claiborne and Billy Clanton — that he realized they were in a scenario that culminated with the historic gunfight at the O.K. Corral. (TOS episode: "Spectre of the Gun", TOS novelization: The Last Gunfight)
