Tor III was the third planet of the Tor star system, in the Alpha or the Beta Quadrant, in the same sector as Daros IV.

It was the homeworld of the Torian species.

It was a relatively primitive world, so much so that the Federation's Prime Directive would likely have forbidden contact with it, given the chance. However, by the late 23rd century, the world had already had extensive trade with the Orion Colony on Daros IV, and they imported advanced technology which permanently altered the native culture. In return, the Orions had a monopoly on trade with Tor III, which the Torians were apparently reluctant to break by risking dealing with unfamiliar independent and Federation merchants. Careful applications of bribery, intrigue, and violence by the Five Families may also have had something to do with it.

Though not explicitly stated, by the context of axe-wielding Torians trading with Daros IV, it is assumed that Tor III is one of the primitive client worlds of Daros IV, hence the above information.

Tor III was a source of copper, which the Simri Family of Daros IV had holdings in and sold in the High Market of Daros IV at a price of 750 credits for 80 standard cargo units. Torian mercenaries were another export, and were hired by both the Simri and Kerav Families. (FASA RPG module: Orion Ruse)
