Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

Traal was a male Payav of the Norrb tribe on planet Mestiko in the 23rd century.

Traal was a tyrannical leader of the Norrb, who launched a number of military strikes against neighboring nations. In the aftermath of "the Pulse" in 2265, Traal endeavored to bring himself political respectability, and joined the Zamestaad as Norrb Councillor.

He was a vocal opponent of the United Federation of Planets, often implying that they were directly responsible for the global disaster that befell their world. In an effort to drive the Federation from Mestiko, Traal allied himself with the Klingon Empire. However, when the Klingons threatened to destroy the Norrb Refugee Center as part of their anti-Federation plans, Traal broke ranks, sacrificing himself to save his people.

Traal's treachery was covered up following his death, and he was honored with a memorial in Mestiko's Space Central. (TOS - Mere Anarchy eBook: The Centre Cannot Hold)

In later years, he became an admired historic figure. Vykul Marto cited Traal as an inspiration for his founding of the Torye. (TOS - Mere Anarchy eBook: The Blood-Dimmed Tide)
