Trazadone hydrochloride was a fast-acting sedative drug available on Earth in the 23rd century.

History[]

In 2271, Pavel Chekov used a hypospray hidden in an arm cast to dose Jim Leong with trazadone hydrochloride. The man collapsed within seconds, and was taken away on charges of high treason. Chekov later explained to Montgomery Scott that he was unsure of the correct dosage to use. He told Nyota Uhura he would have killed Leong if he could have figured a means to do so safely, but Hikaru Sulu disagreed, pointing out that Chekov easily could have hidden a phaser in his cast instead of a hypo.
