Trefayne was an Organian, encountered by representatives of other corporeal races and cultures as a member of the Council of Elders.
History
During Captain Kirk's visit to planet Organia in the year 2267, the Council's chairman, Ayelborne, described Trefayne as "quite intuitive" as an explanation of an application of Organian abilities—Trefayne was aware that eight starships had assumed orbit around Organia, even before Spock was able to verify this with his tricorder. Trefayne announced that these vehicles were using transporters to move personnel to the planet, and that these arrivals carried many weapons, which was the Starfleet landing party's first clue that there was more to the Organians than their appearance as simple humanoids.
