A trial was a legal procedure in which disputes were settled. In some trials, the guilt or innocence of a defendant charged with a crime would be determined.

History and specifics[]

In 2268, Captain James T. Kirk was placed on trial by the Kosians, who did not tell him what the charges were until the trial began. (TOS - The Manga - Kakan ni Shinkou comic: "The Trial")

In 2259 of the Kelvin timeline, the trial of Khan Noonien Singh was held, presided over by Admiral Richard Barnett with Samuel Cogley as lead prosecutor. (TOS - Khan comic: "Khan, Issue 1")
