Tridocane was a drug developed in the Federation in the late 23rd century.

History and specifics[]

Tridocane was a tricyclic compound that shifted some of the time spent in REM sleep over to delta sleep, resulting in fewer dreams. It also gave the user limited control over unconscious thought processes, thus allowing them to stop bad dreams. Unfortunately, Tridocane tended to lose its effectiveness after three or four uses.

In 2269, Leonard McCoy gave Nyota Uhura Tridocane to help her avoid the nightmares of fire she was having and get some uninterrupted sleep. (TOS novel: The Three-Minute Universe)
