Triexian guitar

A Triexian guitar is a type of stringed, acoustic musical instrument similar to an Earth guitar, lute or p'i p'a.

History and specifics[]

The green guitar had two soundholes and 19 strings, each attached to a tuning key. It had a wide body, but its neck was shorter and wider. As one hand was used for chords and two for strumming the strings, the instrument would be nearly impossible to play without three hands.

Arex Na Eth owned a Triexian guitar. In 2269, when Harry Mudd's love potion crystals were distributed by the ventilation system throughout the USS Enterprise, a relaxed Arex played the guitar and sang while manning his bridge station. (TOS episode & Log Three novelization: Mudd's Passion)

In the novelization, the guitar had two strings. He sang a wordless chant played to an uncommon rhythm.
