The Trifid Nebula is a nebula, one of three formations in the Sagittarius Triplet. It is located in the Sagittarius-Carina Arm of the galaxy in the Sagittarius constellation.

History and specifics[]

Bolians call it the Simal Nebula. (TNG novel: Greater Than the Sum)

In 2287, a photograph of the Trifid Nebula graced the cover of Spacelanes magazine. (FASA RPG module: Spacelanes: The Magazine of Interstellar Trade)

In the 2370s decade, USS Voyager's astrometrics laboratory often displayed an image of the Trifid Nebula. (VOY episode: "Night")

In 2380, while en route to NGC 6281, the Trifid Nebula was visible in the Sagittarius-Carina Arm to the crew of the USS Enterprise-E. Each week as the ship slowed to impulse to drop a subspace relay beacon, ship's personnel enjoyed the view. (TNG novel: Greater Than the Sum)

The Trifid Nebula also appeared in TOS episode: "The Alternative Factor" during confrontations between the two Lazaruses.
