Trilex is a planet located in the Beta Quadrant. Trilex was once home to an intelligent humanoid race, who wiped themselves out millennia earlier when they sent their own star supernova to destroy a Borg force intent on assimilating them.
With the destruction of the star, Trilex became a barren frozen wasteland, but it often attracted the attention of Federation scientists and archaeologists to study the former inhabitants secrets. In 2371, following the destruction of the USS Enterprise-D, Lieutenant Commander's Data and La Forge visited Triex for that very reason. However, they were soon attacked by James T. Kirk who had been resurrected by the Borg and the Romulans and ordered to annihilate all opposition in his path. Thankfully, Data and La Forge were rescued by the USS Bozeman. (TOS novel: The Return).
