A trilogy is a set of three distinct works, whether they be films, novels, or comics.
The Wrath of Khan, The Search for Spock and The Voyage Home were not intended to be a trilogy but are now seen as one. The three novel adaptations were reprinted as Duty, Honor, Redemption and the comic adaptations as the Motion Picture Trilogy.
