Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

Turracas are a telepathic ape-like species indigenous to the planet Alpha 332 in the Galaxy 517 region.

History and specifics[]

In the 23rd century, Turracas were a tribal warrior race that wore samurai-style helmets and body armor, and were armed with swords. A group of them lived on the side of Biluddin volcano.

For centuries they had an uneasy relationship with their neighbors, the humanoid Parracas. In the 2260s, Turracas threatened to wipe them out in an all-out assault.

In 2266, James T. Kirk and Spock made first contact with a group of Turracas, who would not heed warnings that the volcano was about to erupt. Instead, the warriors led the landing party to the top of the mountain, intending to sacrifice them to the boiling lava. (TOS comic: "The Gods Have Come!")
