The Twilight Nebula sector was a vast sector that encompassed more than 110 square parsecs of space within the Organian Treaty Zone in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants. It was named for the Twilight Nebula that lay at the heart of the region.
History and specifics[]
This sector was a frontier area on the opposite side of the Federation from the Triangle. It contained regions claimed by the Federation, portions of Klingon territory behind a designated border, and some unclaimed space. Andorians, Humans, and Vulcans began establishing outposts in the Federation portion prior to the 2250s decade, eventually pushing most pirate activity into unclaimed space and the nebula itself. Five systems were located in Klingon space, eleven in Federation space, and one was mapped in unclaimed territory. From the edge of the sector, one could reach Capella at warp six in 32 days, or Starbase 10 in 63 days. (FASA RPG module: Trader Captains and Merchant Princes, 2nd edition)
Areas under Federation jurisdiction were patrolled by the USS Potemkin, whereas D7-class battlecruisers were seen along the Klingon border. (FASA RPG module: Trader Captains and Merchant Princes, 1st edition)
- Based on its description, the Twilight Nebula sector was located within treaty boundary quadrant 4, a.k.a. Starfleet Intelligence sector 4, a region that contained unclaimed space, Klingon space, and Federation space opposite to the Triangle.
