Service history[]
Starfleet operated this shuttlecraft class by 2401. In that year, the shuttlecraft USS Jemison carried the USS name prefix. (PIC episode: "The Star Gazer")
In 2401, shuttles of the class were unarmed. (PIC episode: "Disengage")
Shuttles of this class were standard complement aboard the Constitution III-class. (PIC episode: "The Next Generation")
In 2411, around the time of the multiversal conflict between the Khitomer Alliance and Aetherian Concordium against extradimensional Borg, ships of the Khitomer Alliance were authorized to summon an eight-shuttle Type 14 support squadron to aid in combat. In that year, shuttles of the class were equipped with photon torpedo launchers and phaser beam arrays.
