A Type-3 disruptor was a type of disruptor weapon in use in the 24th century. There were only three civilizations known the Federation to employ this type of weapon: the Breen, the Klingons and the Romulans, who equipped their D'dredar-class battle cruisers with them. In the year 2371, Commander William T. Riker of the Starfleet starship USS Enterprise-D identified the blast patterns at the Amargosa Observatory as being consistent with type-3 disruptors upon arriving.
