The Type-6A shuttlecraft was a 24th century Federation auxiliary vessel, a shuttlecraft for personnel and cargo transport in Starfleet service in the 2380s decade. (LD episode: "Second Contact")

Service history and specifications[]

The Type-6A shuttle operated as a standard embarked craft for a number of facilities and starships in the year 2380. Aboard the California-class starship USS Cerritos, Type-6A shuttlecraft were named for national parks of California, Earth. Their hull was marked with a operations division gold stripe. (LD episode: "Second Contact")

The blast shield was an innovation installed on at least one Type-6A shuttle aboard the Cerritos in that year. (LD episode: "Envoys")

On the Parliament-class engineering vessel USS Vancouver, known shuttles were named for neighborhoods in the Canadian city of Vancouver. Their hull adornment was command division red. (LD episode: "Cupid's Errant Arrow")

Design-wise, the custom shuttle Sequoia appeared like a hybrid between the 2360s Type-6 shuttlecraft and the 2380s-era Type 6A. It's lines followed the Type 6A but it was as compact as a Type 6, and included the Type 6's warp nacelles. (LD episode: "No Small Parts")
