Klingon Empire

uQvam was a Klingon warrior in the Klingon Defense Force.

In the year 2370, uQvam served as Chancellor Gowron's guard during a visit to Starbase Deep Space 9 for talks between the Empire and the United Federation of Planets.

One day, after the talks, uQvam with RocIa accompanied the officials to the Ops of the station in order to return to their ship. Benjamin Sisko commanded the procedure, with the transporter operated by Kira Nerys. Gowron invited the humans, and Worf, to IKS Bortas, but only Edward Jellico accepted it.

However, when the four of them were ready to return to the BortaS, they found themselves in a dark room of another bird-of-prey. Shocked, the two guards pulled their disruptors but the room was protected by a force field and they could not damage the door. Gowron explained to the human that he was an unlucky passenger in an attempt against him. He sat down against a wall, with the two guards always holding their positions.

Soon the ambient sound showed acceleration, making Gowron realise that the ship was perhaps pursued by allies. Indeed, one of the pursuers was the USS Enterprise, which managed to gain and fire against the ships. Gowron told the guards to wait for a power shortage, and indeed, when the lights flickered during another barrage, they managed to destroy the lock. During the shock Jellico banged his head and lost his senses.

With RocIa carrying the stunned human, they exited to the hall; a guard shot at Gowron, who dodged and returned the fire. uQvam laughed with his Gowron's comment that the dead guard should had learned better aiming, and continued checking their rear. They hid the human in a closet and made their way to the bridge.

Seeing the crew busy and oblivious of their escape, they pointed their disruptors at them ordering their surrender. Three of them went for their weapons but it was too late as the others had theirs already drawn. The captain, cha'DIch, and the navigator, raised their hands.

Gowron killed the captain who made a move against him, and they took control of the ship. uQvam and RocIa manned the consoles and made the Enterprise appear on the viewscreen. They hailed it so that Gowron could thank Jean-Luc Picard. (TNG novelization: Klingon)
