The USS Aberdeen was a former Federation starship, a heavy cruiser in service to Starfleet in the 23rd century that saw new life as the flagship of the Affiliation of Outer Free Worlds Mutual Defense Force. It was named for the Human city of Aberdeen on the planet Earth.
Service history and disposition[]
In the early 2250s decade, New New Aberdeen's shipyards earned a contract to build Aberdeen for the Federation when the Four Years War broke out. At the end of its service life, Starfleet decommissioned Aberdeen and put her up for sale as scrap.
New New Aberdeen subsequently bought back the vessel and refurbished it. As of 2287, Aberdeen led AOFW's fleet. (FASA RPG module: The Triangle)
Aberdeen and 12 MacKenzie-class frigates constituted the largest vessels in the Mutual Defense Force. (Stardate Magazine vol. 2, Issue 10: "MacKenzie-class IX frigate")
Legacy[]
Aberdeen was succeeded in name by the 24th century Venture-class scout USS Aberdeen. (ST video games: Armada, Armada II)
