The USS Aeolus (NCC-588) was a 23rd century Federation starship, authorized on stardate 0965 by Starfleet for construction as a Mk VII Hermes-class class I scout. (TOS reference: Star Fleet Technical Manual)
In the late 2250s, Lt. Commander James T. Kirk served aboard the Aeolus as second officer. The Aeolus had been pursuing Aldebaran pirates. A guest aboard the vessel, Cecilia Simons, became his lover, precipitating a romantic meal which caused Kirk to become violently ill. With the second officer incapacitated, the Aeolus night shift bridge crew botched the ongoing tracking of the pirates. Years later, Kirk still held onto the belief that Simons had a hand in the pirates being able to escape the Aeolus. (TOS novel: Enemy Unseen)
Alternate reality
Edit
- See USS Aeolus
In the Kelvin timeline, the Aelous was active in the 23rd century. (TOS video game: Rivals)
- It is unclear from the picture in the game if the alternate reality version of the ship is the same class, however it has the same registry number as that of the one in the Prime reality. As details on both vessels are vague, it is unclear if they share any history.
