The USS Al-Batani (NCC-42995) was a Federation starship, an Excelsior-class cruiser in Starfleet service.

Service history and disposition[]

Al-Batani was in service in the mid-to-late 24th century. (ST video game: Infinite)

The Star Trek Infinite game software has each campaign having a certain chance of spawning an Excelsior ship named "Al-Batani" from a list of preselected names. Through this application of video game logic, it is also possible that this name would be assigned to a number of other types of vessels.

In the year 2357, the Al-Batani was undergoing an overhaul and command was given to Admiral Owen Paris for a five year mission. Al-Batani had an illustrious service career. (ST - The Lost Era novel: Deny Thy Father, ST reference: The Star Trek Encyclopedia; Decipher RPG modules: Starfleet Operations Manual, Starships)

The Al-Batani was a participant in the Tholian War. (Decipher RPG module: Starships)

Following her graduation from Starfleet Academy, Ensign Kathryn Janeway was assigned to the Al-Batani as science officer. During her tour on the Al-Batani she participated in the Arias expedition. On one mission, the Al-Batani was trapped in a proto-nebula for several days, because of the intense gravimetric forces. (VOY episodes: "Caretaker", "Bride of Chaotica!", "Live Fast and Prosper", "Shattered")

In Mosaic, the ship that participated in the Arias expedition was the USS Icarus.

In 2372, Starfleet Command dispatched the Al-Batani to the Pantera Nebula to assist the USS Enterprise-E once a Changeling infiltrator had been discovered aboard her. (TNG eBook: A Sea of Troubles)

Prior to 2378, Christine Vale served on the Al-Batani and was romantically involved with someone. (TNG novel: A Time to Hate)

The Al-Batani was in service in 2379. (ST video game: Starfleet Command III)
