The USS Aldebaran was a Nebula-class Federation starship in Starfleet service in the 24th century, named for the star system at Aldebaran.

History

In 2374, the Aldebaran was part of the Task Force sent to retake the Setlik system from the Dominion. (SCE eBook: War Stories)

In 2376, Aldebaran, under the command of Captain Robison, was assigned a support vessel to Deep Space 9 while the station and its usual support vessel the USS Defiant underwent a major refit.

Just a few days into the posting at DS9, the Aldebaran was destroyed in battle against a trio of rogue Jem'Hadar vessels who had hoped to re-ignite the war with the Alpha Quadrant. (DS9 novel: Avatar, Book 1)

The wreckage of the Aldebaran caused the Bajoran Wormhole to open every few hours. Jake Sisko used the wreckage to sneak into the wormhole on the Venture, a small craft that he acquired from Quark. (DS9 novel: Avatar, Book 2)

Crew

The Aldebaran's crew also included two Denebian ensigns, a number of cadets "earning hours" and at least one Human ensign who survived the ship's destruction as he was on leave on DS9 at the time of the attacks. (DS9 novel: Avatar)
