For other uses, see Amalthea.

The USS Amalthea (NCC-80108) was a 24th century Federation starship, a Luna-class vessel in Starfleet service, named after a moon of the planet Jupiter in the Sol star system, which in turn is named after a figure of Human mythology from the history of the planet Earth. (TTN novel: Taking Wing, "Luna Class Concept Notes"; TTN novel: Sword of Damocles, Titan Fold-out)

Service history and disposition[]

Commander Edward La Forge served aboard the Amalthea in the early 2380s decade. During the Borg Invasion of 2381, the Amalthea was 300 light-years beyond Federation territory, and thus was not called back during the Borg crisis. (TNG novel: Losing the Peace)
