The USS Amargosa was a Federation starship active in the mid to late 24th century.

In 2379, after the disastrous Tezwa affair, the USS Amargosa, along with the USS Musashi and the USS Republic were sent to aid the USS Enterprise-E with the reconstruction of Tezwa after millions of its citizens were killed and most of its major cities' structures were destroyed by the Klingons. The Amargosa and Republic were also responsible for the capture of the merchantman Caedera and the five cargo freighters that transported contraband cargo shipments to Tezwa on behalf of Koll Azernal and Nelino Quafina in order to implicate the Tholians in the construction of the nadion-pulse cannons. (TNG novels: A Time to Kill, A Time to Heal)

In 2381, the Amargosa was defending the Onias Sector along with four other starships when the fleet was attacked and destroyed by the Borg. (ST - Destiny novel: Gods of Night)
