The USS Amazon (NCC-1975) was a 23rd century Federation starship, a Soyuz-class science vessel[1] in Starfleet service in the 2270s decade. Its commanding officer was Captain Jangura. (TOS novel: Living Memory)
Service history and disposition[]
In the year 2279, the Amazon operated in the Sol star system. In October, the Amazon was requisitioned by Fleet Admiral Lance Cartwright of Starfleet Security for his vacuum flare task force. Commander Pavel Chekov, science officer of the USS Reliant, was reassigned to the Amazon to help deal with the vacuum flare crisis threatening the populated portions of the system. Commander Chekov found the bridge and the arrangement of its consoles matching what he was familiar with from the Miranda-class Reliant. Meanwhile, the hospital ship USS Prospero focused on medical relief and emergency evac. (TOS novel: Living Memory)
By the 2370s, the name Amazon was carried by an Edward-class mining freighter, the USS Amazon. (ST video game: Armada mission: "Dark Omens")
