The USS Amundsen was a Federation starship in Starfleet service in the 23rd century.

Service history and disposition[]

Prior to the early-to-mid 2270s decade, this was a Galaxy Exploration Command vessel.

Doctor Ernst Metz was a lieutenant on the Amundsen when his secret adrenalane addiction was discovered. He was arrested and charged with the use of illegal narcotics, his medical license was revoked, and he was allowed to resign from Starfleet. (FASA RPG module: Orion Ruse)

Amundsen was later operating as a Federation destroyer, commanded by Mathew Reynolds, and took part in missions near the Klingon Empire's borders between stardates 7457.2 and 7475.4. (ST video game: Tactical Assault)

The ship was likely named after polar explorer Roald Amundsen.
