The USS Anaximander, nicknamed the "Nax", was a 24th century Federation starship, a Defiant-class vessel in Starfleet and Section 31 service in the 2380s decade. Its commanding officer was Captain William Boimler. (LD episode: "Fissure Quest")
Service history[]

The "Nax" in another quantum reality in 2382.
William Boimler was a transporter duplicate of Lieutenant junior grade Brad Boimler, serving on the USS Titan. In 2381, William Boimler was reported dead from gas exposure in his quarters. The original counterpart, now serving as ensign aboard the USS Cerritos, was informed of his duplicate's passing. In reality, William was alive. Carried by a modified torpedo casing, he was picked up by a Section 31-operated Defiant-class starship, which cloaked in a nebula in a redacted star system. A Section 31 agent recruited Boimler and the vessel warped out. (LD episode: "Crisis Point 2: Paradoxus")
By the year 2382, the Anaximander operated outside of the primary universe. Captain Boimler's patience with solving the mystery around newly created quantum fissures was waning. Such an interdimensional rift created a connection from one quantum reality to another but posed a risk. The Anaximander was on a mission to stop the party responsible for creating the rifts. At that time, Boimler's crew included T'Pol as first officer, Curzon Dax as tactical officer and eight Ensign Harry Kims. Soon after a visit to Quantum Reality 582.76-Φ, the Anaximander picked up an escape pod with a single life sign, leading to the rescue and recruitment of Lieutenant Harry Kim. Kim was dismayed to find that his counterparts had been denied promotion in their native universes. Boimler's mood improved following the rescue of Ensign Beckett Mariner, an engineer they beamed aboard from the exploding Type-7 shuttlecraft Joshua Tree. Ensign Mariner figured out a way to bring the culprit to them by opening a rift. They brought in a United Earth ringship, the Beagle. During a firefight started by Dax, the Eagle was forced to land on planet Khwopa in another reality, pursued by the Anaximander. The alternate, aggressive Khwopians captured both crews. Together in incarceration, the Anaximander and Beagle crews joint forces and were liberated by Doctor Elim Garak of the Nax. During the escape, the disgruntled Lieutenant Kim brought the other eight Kims aboard the Beagle and launched the vessel with the goal of returning to his universe, where they would be better respected. Boimler was unable to talk Kim down. The lieutenant was nearly overthrown by his ensign counterparts, whom he then beamed back to the Anaximander. Lieutenant Kim and the Beagle were destroyed when entering the fissure, leaving the Beagle crew, including Captain Lily Sloane, aboard the Nax. The fissure became destructive. Boimler had its energies redirected to his native universe, relying on their Boimler, Beckett Mariner, D'Vana Tendi and Samanthan Rutherford to solve the thread while protecting the multiverse.
