The USS Archer (NCC-627) was a 23rd century Federation starship in Starfleet service in the 2250s decade. (SNW episode: "Strange New Worlds")
- This vessel was most likely named for Jonathan Archer or his family.
Service history and disposition[]
Active service[]
Winona Kirk once served on the vessel and she brought a blanket from the ship that she used to wrap her son, James. Later, in the 2260s, Captain Kirk would take his blanket onto the USS Enterprise for sentimental purposes. (TOS novel: Devil's Bargain)
In the 2250s, this scout had a dark, metallic hull material. Its single warp nacelle was cupped with a white bussard collector and suspended from the primary hull by a nacelle pylon split into a pair of struts. The USS Archer operated in this configuration. In the year 2259, the Archer completed a first contact mission to Kiley 279 under the command of Lieutenant Commander Una Chin-Riley. (SNW episode: "Strange New Worlds")
Legacy[]
This is one of a number of ships to be so named, followed by the Archer-class prototype USS Archer, also a scout ship, by the middle of the century. (VAN novel: Reap the Whirlwind)
