The USS Ark Royal (NCC-2202) was a 23rd century Federation starship, a Ranger-class carrier in Starfleet service in the 2280s and/or 2290s decades.
Service history and disposition[]
Named for vessels of Earth's history, Ark Royal was a successor in her name following an earlier cruiser vessel, USS Ark Royal of the Achernar-class. (FASA RPG module: Federation Ship Recognition Manual; TOS novel: Cast No Shadow)
Ark Royal was initially equipped as a standard heavy carrier (CVA) with a complement of Hawk-class Federation fighters.
This vessel had the capability of being modified for service as the lead ship in the advanced heavy carrier (CVA+) series. (ST video game: Starfleet Command II: Empires at War, ST video game: Starfleet Command: Orion Pirates)
- No history or definitive final fate is established for this vessel as its name was randomly selected for a carrier by the SFC game software. Ark Royal's position as lead ship of the Ark Royal-subclass is based on the vessel's placement at the top of that list in the game's software.
