For other uses, see Armstrong.

In the Kelvin timeline, the USS Armstrong (NCC-1769) was a Federation starship, an Armstrong-type ship of the line in service to Starfleet in the mid-23rd century. Armstrong entered service as a successor to the previous USS Armstrong (NCC-1769), lost at the Battle of Vulcan. (TOS movie & novelization: Star Trek, TOS - Legacy of Spock comic: "Issue 4")

This ship may be named for the Human astronaut Neil Armstrong.

History

Following the destruction of the Armstrong in 2258, Starfleet launched a successor ship of the same class and registry, which helped save the Vulcans from obliteration at the hands of the Romulans in the Battle of Ceti Alpha V. (TOS - Legacy of Spock comic: "Issue 4")

By 2261, Yuki Sulu served aboard the Armstrong. When the Armstrong and the USS Enterprise docked at Deep Space Starbase K-11, Captain James T. Kirk convinced Sulu to join his crew, and she agreed to the transfer. (TOS - The Khitomer Conflict comic: "Part 1")
