The USS Asclepius (NCC-26293) was a Federation starship, a Miranda-class class XI cruiser starship, specifically of the mk II Reliant-subclass, in service to Starfleet in the 23rd century.
Service history and disposition[]
Asclepius took her name from a preceding vessel, the medical ship USS Asclepius that had been stationed at Starbase 212, under the fleet command of Admiral Koraxi. Leonard McCoy and Spock uncovered that Koraxi was using the Asclepius for illicit medical experiments in the year 2270, and this new vessel assumed the name a few years later. Construction of the Asclepius was completed on reference stardate 2/1907, in the 2270s decade. This vessel was commissioned at one of the the shipyards that produced Reliant-class vessels, either Morena Shipyards, Sol IV Fleet Yards or Salazaar Shipyards.
Asclepius was refit to a mark III vessel on stardate 2/2204, in the early 2280s. (FASA RPG module: Federation Ship Recognition Manual)
