For other uses, see Atlas.

The USS Atlas was a 24th century Federation starship, a Sovereign-class battleship in Starfleet service from the 2370s decade. (ST video game: Armada)

In the 2380s, Captain Morgan Bateson served as the ship's commanding officer. (ST - Destiny novel: Lost Souls)

Service history[]

2370s[]

The Atlas was one of the Federation starships combating the Borg Collective when Locutus attempted to assimilate the Alpha Quadrant and gain control over an Omega particle in the year 2376. (ST video game: Armada)

Some six months later, in 2377, the Atlas saw action during a renewed Borg invasion. (ST video game: Armada II)

USS Justice

In the Delta Quadrant in 2377.

On stardate 54727.7, the Atlas accompanied a small fleet led by the USS Enterprise-E after the Venture-class scout USS Coltrane detected the staging grounds of the Borg invasion in System J-361 in the Delta Quadrant. Once the Borg nexus and other installations had been found in the gravity well of a class J gas giant, Starfleet dispatched reinforces to attack and destroy the staging grounds. (ST video game: Armada II mission: "Staging Grounds")

No specific history or definitive final fate was established for this vessel in the Armada series as its name was selected for a Sovereign-class battleship by the game developers, and is often placed randomly when the ship appears.

2380s[]

Bateson

Captain Morgan Bateson.

In the year 2381, the Atlas was under the command of Captain Morgan Bateson and fought as a part of a 40 ship armada against the massive Borg invasion of February.

Atlas was the flagship of the task force assigned to protect the planet Vulcan. When ten Borg cubes arrived at the system, the Atlas engaged the enemy using transphasic torpedos. Bateson's ship was eventually able to destroy several cubes before the Borg could finally adapt to the weapon and started their counter-strike.

Picard and Janeway confront T'Uerell

The task force and Borg.

Most of the task force was destroyed, but the heavily-damaged Atlas managed to outmaneuver the Borg. When the collective started to fall into chaos due to Captain Erika Hernandez's link to the hive, the last Borg ships started to attack each other. The few that survived the fire exchange were destroyed by the Atlas, and Vulcan was saved again. (ST - Destiny novel: Lost Souls)

LA8-Starbase-22

Starbase 22.

Following the invasion, the Atlas reported to Starbase 22, where station's counselor, Brian Ellis, counselled the Atlas medical staff. (ST novel: A Singular Destiny)

In March 2384, the Atlas visited Planet Orion in the Pi-3 Orionis star system, while a secret summit between the Federation and the Gorn Hegemony was being held in the secure sub-levels of the Bank of Orion. (TNG - Cold Equations novel: Silent Weapons)
