In May, 2282 (Reference stardate 2/1805), the Audacious made peaceful first contact with the Xelatian species in the Tau 56 star system, encountering a nuclear-powered Xeletian craft, resulting in the establishment of long-term diplomatic relations with the United Federation of Planets.
