USS Avery

The USS Avery at Dozaria.

In an alternate reality found by QJ of the Q Continuum, the USS Avery (NCC-1999)[1] was a 24th century Federation spacecraft, a Chimer-class starship in Starfleet service in the 2370s decade. Its commanding officer was Skrain Dukat. (ST - Sons of Star Trek comic: "Issue 1")

Service history[]

In the year 2378 the Avery was assigned to patrol Dozaria, the Federation's last dilithium-rich planet. The Federation had been embroiled in a war with the Breen Confederacy for ten years, since 2368.

On stardate 55450.8, a massive Breen Chel Grett-class vessel attacked the Avery. QJ, a Q, replaced some of the ship's personnel with their counterparts from the primary universe. Initially, the new arrivals were unable to come to terms with being on the USS Avery, and the Breen destroyed Dukat's ship with a transphasic torpedo. QJ reset the timeline to give Jake Sisko, Nog and Alexander Rozhenko another chance at saving the Avery. (ST - Sons of Star Trek comic: "Issue 1")

The Avery became stuck in a temporal causality loop and was destroyed by the Breen 57 times, including by proton torpedoes. Following a mind meld between Rozhenko and Commander Tuvix, Lieutenant Jadzia took the helm and executed the Curzon maneuver, destroying the Breen ship. A Breen boarding party invaded the Avery by shuttle. (ST - Sons of Star Trek comic: "Issue 2")

The boarding parties used personal cloaks and killed Captain Dukat, placing Commander Beckett Mariner in command. The ship was menaced by the massive Breen dreadnought Chimera. When QJ regained his Q powers by clapping instead of snapping, he ended the Breen-Federation conflict by providing the Chimera with enough dilithium to move their class P planet out of its system. QJ returned to the Q Continuum. Sisko, Nog and Rozhenko returned to the primary universe, too. (ST - Sons of Star Trek comic: "Issue 3")
