The USS Banting (NCC-58929) was a 25th century Federation starship, an Olympic-class research vessel in Starfleet service in the 2410s decade. (STO - Terran Gambit mission: "The Fujiwhara Effect")

Service history and disposition

When Terran Emperor Wesley Crusher steered the Other, a living machine entity, towards the Sol star system to destroy it by digitization, the Banting was one of several ships tasked with evacuating locations in the system.

The Banting assembled alongside a combined Khitomer Alliance fleet outside of Earth Spacedock in Earth's orbit. As part of the formation, the Banting moved between the fellow Olympic-class ships USS Hooke and USS Fleming. As part of Operation: Jupiter, the Banting was to assist in evacuating Jupiter Station before the Other digitized planet Jupiter.

After the fleet warped from Earth Spacedock to Jupiter Station, the Banting, the Fleming and the Seneca-class command carrier Picotte assumed defensive positions around of Jupiter Station's holoprojectors. The fleet defended the space station from attacking Imperial Starfleet forces loyal to Emperor Crusher. When the Other arrived, they digitized Jupiter and the Jupiter Station facilities.
