The USS Bataan was a Federation starship in service to Starfleet in the late 24th century. In 2377, the Bataan was ordered to planet Ardana, in case the Starfleet Corps of Engineers were unable to stabilize the flying city of Stratos, or find a way to control its landing. If these plans failed, the Bataan's tractor beams would have been employed to control the city's descent. However, the city crashed to the planet before the Bataan could arrive. - The class of the Bataan is not revealed, but it is presumably a larger and more powerful vessel than the Saber-class da Vinci. As the Nebula-class USS Edison had initially been assigned to Ardana, the Bataan may be of the same class.
