The USS Bozeman[3] (NCC-1941-A),[2] also referred to as the USS Bozeman II,[2] was a 24th century Federation starship, a Sovereign-class[1] destroyer[2] in Starfleet service in the 2370s[2] decade. Its commanding officer was Captain Morgan Bateson, previous CO of the time-displaced Soyuz-class USS Bozeman (NCC-1941). (TNG novel: Ship of the Line)
Service history[]
Originally designated USS Roderick, the Bozeman was so renamed in honor of Captain Morgan Bateson and the crew of the recently decommissioned original USS Bozeman, a temporally-displaced 23rd century vessel. In turn, both vessels were originally named for Bozeman, Montana on Earth, the site of first contact between Humans and Vulcans.
Bozeman was constructed at Starbase 12, with completion coming shortly after that of the USS Enterprise-E. Bateson and the crew of the original Bozeman served on the construction teams of both ships. Captain Montgomery Scott also assisted with the vessels' final stages of construction. (TNG novel: Ship of the Line)
The Bozeman-A underwent a trial of fire soon after entering service when, under Bateson's command, it was one of a number of vessels that faced the Borg at the Battle of Sector 001 in 2373. (TNG movie: Star Trek: First Contact)
By the year 2381, Morgan Bateson had been transferred to the Sovereign-class USS Atlas. (ST - Destiny novel: Lost Souls)

Background[]
This section is written from the Real World point of view. |
- The Bozeman is mentioned in radio chatter in First Contact. The movie does not indicate whether it is the original Bozeman or the Bozeman-A.
- In Ship of the Line, the Bozeman-A was referred to as a destroyer, but no starship class was given. However, The Future Begins identifies her as being Sovereign-class vessel and a sister ship to the Enterprise-E.
