The USS Canopus was a 24th century Federation starship, a Federation repair ship in service to Starfleet in the 2370s decade. This vessel was named for the star Canopus.

Canopus inherited her name from an earlier Starfleet vessel, a Constellation-class USS Canopus. (FASA RPG module: Star Trek: The Next Generation Officer's Manual)
These vessels were eventually succeeded in bearing the name Canopus by 2378, when the Excelsior-class USS Canopus was in service. (ST video game: Starfleet Command III)
