USS Charleston (NCC-42285)

The USS Charleston (NCC-42285) was a Federation starship, an Excelsior-class explorer vessel in service to Starfleet in the mid-to-late 24th century. (ST reference: The Star Trek Encyclopedia, DS9 reference: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Technical Manual)

This was a successor in name to a previous vessel, the USS Charleston. (Decipher RPG module: Starships)

Service history[]

In the year 2356, Captain Mansfield took command of the Charleston, and in 2361, Commander Idun Asmund became his first officer. (TNG novel: Reunion)

In 2364, the Charleston met with the USS Enterprise-D to take three revived 20th century cryonic survivors to Earth. (TNG episode: "The Neutral Zone")

In 2367, the Charleston transported Idun Asmund to Starbase 81. (TNG novel: Reunion)

In 2368, the Charleston was part of the Federation blockade of Romulan space during the Klingon Civil War. (TNG episode: "Redemption, Part II")

In 2371, Lieutenant Commander Graal was the chief engineer of the Charleston. (DS9 novel: Saratoga)
