The USS Cleveland (NCC-1803) was a Federation starship, an Excelsior-class cruiser in Starfleet service in the 23rd, 24th and 25th centuries. This ship was named for the city of Cleveland on the planet Earth's North American continent. (ST video game: Starfleet Command)
- The registry NCC-1803 was previously used in the ST reference: Star Fleet Technical Manual for a proposed starship construction, the USS Altair. The Altair might not have been built, or the registry was simply used for both ships. It is also possible the two vessels do not exist in the same continuity, although in many ways the SFC games provide a continuation for concepts originated in the SFTM, meaning the two being alternate histories from each other is an unlikely prospect.
Service history and disposition[]
During an era of militaristic tension, Cleveland was initially equipped as a guided weapon battlecruiser (BCG in the Kirov-subclass) in the 2280s and/or 2290s decades. (ST video game: Starfleet Command, ST video game: Starfleet Command II: Empires at War, ST video game: Starfleet Command: Orion Pirates)
By the 24th century, Cleveland had been modified for service as a fleet cruiser, in active service around the year 2378. (ST video game: Starfleet Command III)
- No specific history or definitive final fate was established for this vessel as its name was selected for a video game playing field ship in the SFC game series, and is placed randomly by the game software each time the ship appears, as a battlecruiser in SFC1 and the SFC2 games and as a cruiser in SFC3. Given the 90+ year gap between the two segments of the game series, it is possible these are two separate vessels, but they are listed together here for the purposes of this wiki. The problematic use of the term "battlecruiser" applied to a Starfleet vessel might also represent an alternate history from canon Star Trek.
In 2410, the Cleveland was part of the final stand by powers from all four quadrants of the galaxy against the Iconians in Sector 001. The ship was destroyed, but an Alpha Quadrant Alliance vessel picked up survivors from Cleveland's escape pods. (STO - The Iconian War mission: "Midnight")
- Again, the 30 year gap between SFC3 and STO might indicate that another separate USS Cleveland was being referred to, but they are listed together here for the purposes of this wiki.
