The USS Columbia was a 24th century Federation starship, a Steamrunner-class heavy frigate in Starfleet service in the 2370s decade, one of a number of ships to be named Columbia.

Service history and disposition[]

In the year 2371, the Columbia was diverted to the Veridian star system by Admiral Alynna Nechayev to assist the USS Enterprise-D against deranged El-Aurian scientist Tolian Soran, but the Columbia arrived too late, instead helping to evacuate the survivors of the now-destroyed Enterprise from the planet. (TNG movie: Generations; TNG - Strange New Worlds VII short story: "Full Circle")

In 2375, during the Dominion War, the Columbia was stuck inside Starbase 1 after the base was attacked and lost power during the Breen attack on San Francisco. Eventually the ship was freed by the USS Enterprise-E and engaged the Breen ships attacking Earth alongside the Enterprise, destroying them after first having to fight DP-7. (TNG - Tales of the Dominion War short story: "Eleven Hours Out")

This ship continued in active service in the years 2376 and 2377. (ST video games: Armada, Armada II)

No specific history or definitive final fate was established for this vessel as its name was selected for a frigate by the Armada game developers, and is placed randomly each time the ship appears.
