In the 23rd century Starfleet operated a Constitution-class starship named USS Constellation (NCC-1017), a sister ship of the USS Enterprise. (TOS episode: "The Doomsday Machine")
One of its successors was the Constellation-class prototype USS Constellation (NCC-1974). (TOS - Rihannsu: The Bloodwing Voyages novel: Honor Blade)
By the 2360s, a USS Constellation with the NCC registry number NCC-55817 was active. (TNG episode: "Conspiracy")
Construction[]
The Sovereign was a new ship class in the early 2370s. (TNG movie: Star Trek: First Contact)
In the year 2375, Starfleet called upon Captain Montgomery Scott to make refinements to the design and portions of the Constellation after previously conducting refinements to the USS Sovereign and the USS Enterprise-E. In that year, Spock discussed that with James T. Kirk. Kirk was surprised that their mutual friend Scotty was not only captain of the Sovereign but a designer of the latest Enterprise as well. Legacy[]
A Galaxy-class USS Constellation carried the name in 2378 and fought alongside the Enterprise-E during the events surrounding Starbase Unity One. (ST video game: Starfleet Command III)
By the early 25th century, the name reverted to the Constellation class. The USS Constellation (NX-1974-D) was active by 2409. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")
