For other uses, see Copernicus.

The USS Copernicus (NCC-3815) was a mk VI Ptolemy-class Federation class I transport tug starship in Starfleet service in the 23rd century.

Service history[]

Construction of Copernicus was authorized by the Starfleet appropriation of stardate 0965. (TOS reference: Star Fleet Technical Manual)

The stardate given would seem to suggest this ship was ordered sometime before the TOS era.

By the 2260s decade, the Copernicus had been designated as a science vessel. In the year 2267, shortly after stardate 3040, the ship was assigned to survey dying planets, starting with Ramedes III. A civilian named Rell was attached to the ship's crew to offer a unique perspective on this endeavour. (TOS comic: "Worldsinger")
