The USS Cortes was a Nelson-class Federation starship in service in the 23rd century. (FASA RPG module: Federation Ship Recognition Manual) It was a scout ship.
Service history and disposition[]
The Cortes was captained by Commander Solomon Kane and tasked with patrolling a region not far beyond the Orion worlds. After four years, the ship had the surprising distinction of never encountering a single Orion privateer. Kane had secretly made a fortune selling contraband cargoes and taking bribes to look the other way. (FASA RPG module: Orion Ruse)
