The USS Courageous (alternately registered NCC-26241 and NCC-1805) was a Federation Miranda-class (Reliant-subclass) cruiser starship in service to Starfleet in the 23rd century.

History

The Couragerous entered service on reference stardate 2/1610 along with her mk I sister ships, the USS Vindicator and the USS Redoubt. The Courageous was later refit to mk II specifications on reference stardate 2/1904. (FASA RPG module: Federation Ship Recognition Manual)

By 2270, the Courageous was under the command of Captain Michael Caulder and assigned to deep space exploration near Starbase 25. She and the USS Enterprise were assigned to investigate a unknown colony in system R-855, which ended in First contact with the Bajoran people. They learned the colony was called Pillagra.

The Courageous and the Enterprise defended the Bajorans against an assault from the Ascendants, though the Courageous was heavily damaged and forced to land on the planet's surface. (TOS novel: Allegiance in Exile)

By the mid-2280s, the Courageous was under the command of Captain March. In 2285, the Courageous was assigned a patrol near Starbase 13. In this year, the ship was attacked by the mirror universe starship ISS Enterprise. Following the assault, the Courageous suffered heavy damage, her life support systems were failing, and most of her crew lay dying. Fortunately, she was able to send out a distress call to Starfleet informing them of the attack. (TOS - The Mirror Universe Saga comic: "Double Image")

The Courageous's crew were eventually rescued by the USS Excelsior and taken to Starbase 13. (TOS - The Mirror Universe Saga comic: "The Tantalus Trap!")
