The USS Crockett (NCC-600) was a 23rd century Federation starship in Starfleet service, one of a number of vessels named for Davy Crockett, a hero of Earth's North American history.
Service history and disposition[]
Crockett, with registry number NCC-597, was authorized for construction as a Mk VII Hermes-class class I scout by a Starfleet appropriation on stardate 0965 by the early to mid-2260s decade. (ST reference: Star Fleet Technical Manual)
Leonard McCoy was assigned to the Crockett early on in his Starfleet career. While aboard her, McCoy made several planetfalls for shore leave and developed an idea of what a good liberty port was. (TOS - Star Trek II Short Stories short story: "Under Twin Moons")
Sometime prior to the year 2268, the Crockett encountered a Denevian vessel while exploring the border of the Beta Quadrant. (TOS - Gateways novel: One Small Step)
After an apparent refit, Crockett was in service as an Akula-class scout in the 2280s and 2290s, initially equipped as a standard scout (SC).
This vessel had the capability of being modified for service as an advanced scout (SC+ in the Monoceros-subclass series). (ST video games: Starfleet Command II: Empires at War, Starfleet Command: Orion Pirates)
- No history or definitive fate is established for this vessel in the SFC games as its name was randomly selected for a scout by the SFC games' software.
In 2336, the Crockett discovered the Sli in the Qizan Qal'at system. The Crockett observed the Klingon warship IKS BIr Hud being forced to surrender by the mind-controlling Sli, without a single shot being fired. The Crockett managed to get a message to Starbase 1 informing Starfleet of the incident before all contact was lost. When the USS Bridger arrived at the scene several days later, they discovered the debris of the Crockett and the Klingon vessel. (TNG novel: Sins of Commission)
By the 2350s, the Crockett had been succeeded in name by a new Excelsior-class USS Crockett. (ST reference: The Star Trek Encyclopedia)
