The USS Curie[1] (NCC-81890-J[1]) was a 32nd century Federation starship, a Merian-class[1] science vessel in Starfleet service around the 3180s decade. The ship operated from the hidden Federation Headquarters space station. (DSC episode: "Die Trying", Shipyards reference: Starfleet Ships 2294 - The Future)
Service history and disposition[]
Namesake[]
The modern Curie was preceded by other vessels bearing the name USS Curie, named after the historic Human scientist Marie Curie. (VOY episode: "Darkling")
In the year 2381 of the First Splinter[4] timeline, the USS Curie (NCC-81890), under Captain Xin Chan, was refitted with a quantum slipstream drive and assigned to Project Full Circle, a Starfleet expeditionary task force into the Delta Quadrant. (VOY novel: Full Circle)
Post-Burn[]
When the time-displaced 23rd century starship USS Discovery reported for duty at Federation HQ in the year 3189, the modern Curie was one of the ships present within the distortion field. (DSC episode: "Die Trying")
The Curie-J was docked at Federation Headquarters three weeks later, when the newly-minted Discovery-A completed its refit. (DSC episode: "Scavengers")
When the Discovery fell under control of the Emerald Chain, Fleet Admiral Charles Vance ordered all ships to fire upon that ship. The Curie-J maneuvered around the stalk of the space station to commence an attack run on the Discovery-A. (DSC episode: "That Hope Is You, Part 2")
At some point, the Curie-J visited a class M planet. Like its Nobel laureate namesake Marie Curie, the Curie-J carried out missions of a specialist medical nature. (Shipyards reference: Starfleet Ships 2294 - The Future)
At some point five months after the Emerald Chain's defeat 3189, Lieutenant Commander Ronald A. Bryce served as consultant aboard the Curie on a temporary assignment in 3190. Lieutenant Christopher filled Bryce's role as communications officer aboard the USS Discovery-A in the meantime.
Both officers attended the opening ceremony of Starfleet Academy and Archer Spacedock aboard Federation Headquarters, where Christopher told Bryce he would not mind picking up additional duty shifts aboard the Discovery. Commander Bryce reminded Christopher that his consultancy aboard the Curie would only last a few more days. (DSC episode: "Kobayashi Maru")
Days later, Bryce had returned to his usual post aboard the Discovery-A. (DSC episode: "Anomaly")
